01 / Requirements & Data

Compliance, Formats & XML

Understand mandate requirements, how electronic invoicing works and the formats behind it. Learn to read and create a simple XML e-invoice

02 / Process & Performance

AP & AR Efficiency and Business Benefits

Discover different levels of AP and AR automation. Reduce routine processing work, strengthen controls and free people to focus on exceptions, decisions and cash-flow improvement.

A Structured Invoice Is More Than a Digital Document

The real change is not simply replacing paper with a PDF. Structured invoice fields can be read and processed by systems. The business case extends beyond mandates: voluntary adoption can also improve the way finance works.
Structured invoice data

Understand What Must Happen

Identify the relevant mandate, business scenario and exchange or reporting requirements. Learn how to discover and verify what applies in each country—especially when your business operates internationally.
Automated checks and processing

Understand the Data

See how invoice information is organized in electronic formats and XML. Connect the fields your finance team recognizes with the structure a system can read.
Better information and decisions

Use It to Improve Finance

Choose which steps to automate: from data capture and purchase-order matching to accounting preparation, approvals and payment runs.

Built for the People Who Implement,
Run and Improve E-Invoicing

Choose by the decisions you need to make and the work you want to improve

CFOs, Controllers & Finance Leaders

Connect regulatory readiness with operational value—whether e-invoicing is mandatory or a voluntary business decision. Use Mandates and Formats to understand requirements and data; choose AP and AR to evaluate automation, stronger controls, cash-flow benefits and an implementation business case you can present to management.

AP & P2P Teams

Choose the level of AP automation that fits your process: capture and extract supplier-invoice data, match it with purchase orders, prepare accounting entries or post to the ERP. Apply approval rules so invoices meeting agreed criteria can move forward automatically, while people review exceptions, unusual cases and amounts above thresholds.

Explore potential reductions of 20–80% in invoice-processing work, depending on your starting point and the workflows automated. Introduce and test each step before extending it; keep controls and responsibilities clear.

Accountants, ERP & Transformation Teams

Build a common language between finance and technology. Understand invoice formats, read XML fields and create a simple invoice example. Add AP or AR to connect technical decisions with process objectives and the benefits to measure.

Tax, Compliance & E-Invoicing Leads

Understand how requirements vary by country and business scenario, and develop a repeatable way to locate and verify relevant information. Add Formats and XML to connect the rules with the invoice data and exchange process.

AR, Billing & Credit Teams

Connect invoice delivery and status visibility with fewer avoidable disputes, more focused collections and better cash-flow information. Use the AR course to assess the benefits, customer experience and KPIs that matter to your process.

Consultants & Fractional Finance Leaders

Help clients frame the right questions: what applies, what data is needed, where the workflow can improve and how success will be measured. Choose the foundations or benefits program according to the engagement, rather than treating compliance training as a complete implementation service.

Questions Before You Choose

Should I start with compliance and formats, or AP and AR benefits?

Choose by your immediate responsibility.
  • Start with Mandates to understand applicable requirements and how to discover and verify them across countries.
  • Choose Formats and XML to understand electronic invoice data and create your first simple invoice.
  • Start with AP or AR if you have already implemented e-invoicing or are considering it and want greater efficiency, stronger controls or better cash-flow performance. The business benefits also make voluntary adoption worth evaluating, even without a mandate.
  • The displayed order is a useful progression, not a prerequisite chain.

What is the difference between an individual course and a program?

An individual course develops one focused capability. A program connects two complementary courses:
  • Mandates + Formats/XML, or
  • AP + AR automation and benefits

to cover a broader, more comprehensive area at a discounted combined price compared with buying the two courses separately. Choose the program that matches your goal and review its current price and inclusions.

Do I need technical knowledge to learn XML?

The Formats course starts with the basics, so XML can be your very first structured data format. Its readable tags help you connect familiar invoice information with the way a system organizes data—an accessible first step into the programmer’s world, without becoming a developer.

XML is a markup language used in many electronic-invoice formats, bank payment instructions and statements, and the internal files of modern Excel .xlsx workbooks. Learning to recognize elements, attributes and structure helps you read and understand these XML-based files, although their schemas and business rules differ.

Will I create an e-invoice myself?

Yes—you will create your very first simplified XML electronic invoice, with your name or business as the supplier and a fictitious customer. You will build the example yourself, connecting familiar invoice details with the XML structure.

The course introduces six free tools to help you create, inspect and visualize XML: a practical sneak peek into the programmer’s world. Your invoice is a learning example rather than a real transaction or submission-ready document. It uses simplified data and structure. Of course, real invoices must meet the applicable syntax, required data and local tax requirements.

Are AP and AR courses useful if compliance is not my main responsibility?

Absolutely. The AP and AR courses focus on operational and financial gains, whether e-invoicing is already in place, being planned or adopted voluntarily.

AP explores different levels of supplier-invoice automation: capturing and extracting data, creating ERP records, matching purchase orders, preparing accounting entries, posting and applying approval rules. You choose which steps to automate—including suitable approval and payment-run tasks—while people focus on exceptions, unusual cases and threshold breaches. We explain how to introduce each step carefully and retain appropriate checks and responsibilities.

Depending on the technical setup, authenticated exchange, validation and controlled invoice records can also reduce opportunities for alteration and certain AP invoice-fraud schemes. E-invoicing technology can support stronger controls throughout invoice processing—from capture and verification to approval and payment.

AR focuses on customer invoicing, collections, visibility and cash-flow benefits. Both courses help you evaluate the improvements and adapt a business case to your organization.

What is the difference between a PDF and a structured electronic invoice?

A normal PDF presents an invoice for a person to read. A structured electronic invoice provides defined data fields that systems can interpret and process. Hybrid formats combine a human-readable PDF with embedded structured data. The Formats course explains how these formats differ.

Will the Mandates course replace checking current local requirements?

The Mandates course gives you a practical method for discovering the scenarios and requirements relevant to your business, so you can work towards compliance in each country where you operate. This is particularly useful internationally, where scope, formats, exchange models and reporting obligations differ.

Use the course’s explanations, resources and mandate template to identify what applies and organize your findings. Because rules and dates change, verify current official requirements for your entity and transactions, and obtain specialist tax or legal advice where needed. The training supports that work rather than replacing a local compliance review.

Do these courses implement an e-invoicing system for me?

You will build understanding you can use in a real implementation. In the Formats course, creating a simplified XML invoice helps you recognize the structure and fields when you later inspect a production e-invoice. Mandates helps you identify requirements, while AP and AR help you choose and evaluate workflow improvements.

The training is not an ERP installation, a provider subscription or a complete implementation service. You still need the appropriate systems, provider setup, configuration and validation for your business. The learning helps you frame those needs and work more confidently with the people implementing them.

What practical resources will I take away?

Resources differ by course.
  • Mandates includes written explainers, course notes and a pre-filled mandate template.
  • Formats includes written explainers, course notes and six free tools introduced for creating, inspecting and visualizing XML.
  • AP and AR include substantial text materials, slides and review/final questions, with phased implementation guidance and illustrative business-case calculations.
Check each full page for the exact current inventory.

Are savings, faster collections or a particular ROI guaranteed?

The AP and AR courses show you how to build a realistic business case rather than rely on a headline promise. They present a phased implementation timeline: automate a workflow step, test it, put it into use and confirm it works reliably before moving to the next stage.

Worked examples translate time saved into costs and ROI that you can adapt and present to management. They also consider wider benefits, including a smaller backlog of unprocessed invoices, stronger controls and better cash-flow information. The figures are illustrative, not guaranteed results: your baseline, invoice mix, systems, controls, adoption and implementation choices determine the outcome.

Do the courses offer CPE/CPD credits and a certificate?

Check the individual course or program page for its current credit information, learning-time basis and completion requirements. The AP and AR courses each have 4.5 CPE/CPD credits. Recognition and the correct treatment depend on your professional body, employer and jurisdiction.

How does access work, and can my company buy several seats?

The current offers provide lifetime access to the purchased course or the courses listed in the purchased program. Do not assume that a program includes all four courses or future separately sold products. Check the individual sales page and checkout for exact materials, update provisions, tax and refund terms.
